Museums and Cultural Attractions
Chicago celebrates - and is celebrated for - its rich
culture. You can see it in our world-famous
architecture, highlighted by the downtown bookends of
the Sears Tower and the John Hancock Center. You can
experience it at nearly 50 amazing museums, including
the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Science and
Industry and the institutions of the beautiful Museum
Campus - the Adler Planetarium, the Field Museum and the
John G. Shedd Aquarium. You can hear it at the
celebrated Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera and
the Jay Pritzker Pavillion. And you can walk amongst it
at Millennium Park, the new downtown park filled with
iconic art, architecture and landscape design.
Restaurants Chicago's
been named "America's Best City for Dining." The city's
5,500 restaurants range across all culinary tastes and
price points. You'll find every ethnic cuisine
imaginable - haute French, regional Italian, eclectic
Pan-Asian - and everything in-between. Not to be outdone
are the clubby prime steakhouses, the flown-in-fresh
daily seafood restaurants plus the Made-in-Chicago
deep-dish pizza establishments.
Shopping We all know
attendees love to shop - and there's nowhere better than
Chicago to do it. Start with the Magnificent Mile,
Chicago's premier shopping boulevard. Stroll adjacent
Oak Street with its exclusive boutiques and salons.
Browse River North with its galleries and design houses.
Cross the Chicago River to State Street and its historic
department stores. All are just steps from downtown
hotels.
Theater Chicago's theater
scene continues to garner critical acclaim. Downtown
you'll find Broadway blockbusters and cutting-edge
drama. At Navy Pier, you can discover Shakespeare. And
in the Off-Loop theaters, you can discover gems that may
one day be considered classics all over the world. But
it's not all so serious - don't forget Second City, the
birthplace of improvisational comedy.
Nightlife Chicago's open
all night. It's the kind of town that really knows how
to unwind after a day's work. Restaurants. Bars. Blues
clubs. Jazz clubs. Every kind of music at clubs all over
town. All very friendly and accessible from downtown
hotels. You can have a real good time in our city!
